The
Emmerdale Companion
A Celebration of 25 Years of Emmerdale
By Anthony Hayward |
  |
 |
Monday, 16 October 1972. Lieutenant Pigeon
were topping the charts with Mouldy Old Dough. At the heart of fashion were purple
tank tops, flared jeans and stacked boots. At your local cinema, you could have seen
Cabaret with Liza Minelli, Marlon Brando in Last Tango in Paris or Shelly Winters in the
Poseidon Adventure. Alternatively, you could have stayed in and, over lunch at
1.30pm, you could have watched the first episode of a new, twice weekly television series
called Emmerdale Farm.
In 1997, its silver jubilee year, the
programme increased its output to three episodes a week and moved its outdoor filming to a
purpose built village set on the Harewood Estate, near Leeds.
In this official celebration of
Emmerdale's 25th Anniversary, author Anthony Hayward has been given unique access to the
cast and crew of Emmerdale. He traces the serial's history, looks at the real life
dramas behind the scenes and interviews old and new members of the cast.
This book is a true collector's edition to
mark the programme's silver jubilee, including previously unseen photographs.
Hardback - 192 Pages
with colour photographs throughout.
